Back in college, I remember talking about “who I am” on retreats. For me it’s a fluid answer, as life changes, so do I. Don’t we all? So, I’ll continue to update this page as life changes, but for now, you can get a snapshot of who I am today:
I am a designer — I’ve always had a passion for art and design, drawing, painting, you name it, so when I was introduced to graphic design, I knew that was the “career” for me. And, as I got older and had my own homes to decorate, I fell into a passion for designing spaces as well.
I am a wife — Over 10 years ago I said “yes” to Nic after he got down on one knee by the volleyball court, just outside Gardens D at Loyola College and asked me to marry him (after 4 years of dating). It hasn’t always been easy, but I can definitely say I married my best friend, and this journey wouldn’t be the same without him.
I am an entrepreneur — I don’t work well for others (ie. I don’t like being told what to do). I like to be my own boss. Since I was a kid I’ve always liked to tell people what to do (some people call that bossy – I’ve learned to embrace it). 7 years ago I started a web design business, 5 years ago I started a Beautycounter business, last year I started this blog and currently I’m working on a couple other unique projects. Who knows what I’ll be doing next year?
I am an advocate — I LOVE to read, after having kids, I’ll admit I don’t read as much as I’d like to, but I’ve been trying for a book a month (I did hit it in 2019!). If I could continually take classes on different topics, I would. That’s why when I learn something I dig deeper, and then I tell the world. That’s what happened when I learned how the sunscreen you find in stores was carcinogenic. It led me down a rabbit hole of research, eventually finding Beautycounter, falling in love with it, and leading me to become a passionate advocate for safer personal care products (ie. Clean Beauty, the new buzzword).
I am a mother — This is my number one job right now, raising my 4 children (3 boys and a girl), and teaching them how to be leaders, how to love others for who they are, and how to have compassion, strength, hope & faith. To live without fear and with a contagious energy. Some days, are not so easy, but who ever said it was an easy job?
In the end, I hope to live a long, prosperous life with a focus on faith, hope & love. If everyone does that, can you imagine what a wonderful world it could be?
I hope you take something away after reading my thoughts, and go out and change the world for the better.
xoxo
