2023 was an exhausting year for me. When I say exhausting, I mean it in both a physical and mental way.
Our year started off with all 6 of us rolling through COVID the entire month of January. From there we had ups and downs. We lost people important to us. We traveled with all 4 kids (which was fun, but so exhausting!). The year ended with more sicknesses, a bit of a realization with how fast you could lose someone and thankfulness for modern technology in healthcare and a good ending.
December had me down. Exhausted and overwhelmed. I wasn’t myself. So, I booked myself a facial and had a great experience and relaxing morning which was much needed, thanks Dani! Of course when I got home and got right back into the craziness, I started feeling pretty overwhelmed again.
That got me to realize how I really haven’t had a true break for longer than I can remember, certainly since before our youngest was born, but in reality, much longer than that.
I realized I needed a reset. To be a better mom, better business owner, better wife, I needed a break. But, how was I going to get that break? Where was it going to come from?
My mom heard me, saw my overwhelm, and offered to come watch our kids for the weekend so Nic and I could have a break for my birthday.
Nic was unsure about spending the money to go away. As small business owners, sometimes the beginning of a new year can be a bit scary if we don’t have things lined up. But, I explained I needed it. I needed to go away. Reset, clear my mind, and come back refreshed and ready to go.
So, what can you do to help yourself become less overwhelmed? How can you take the time out of your schedule to do something for you?
You may even be surprised at the result of just booking something. We had so much work come in after we booked our trip it was a bit overwhelming.
Another reminder that you can’t control every little thing, and you need to take a step back and take a break.
Thanks for being here!

Let’s book another trip!
